How big does a fawn get?
By November the average whitetail male fawn will weigh close to 80 to 85 pounds, and the female fawn will weigh 75 to 80 pounds. As the spots disappear, the fawn's coat also changes from its reddish color to a grayish winter coat. The buck fawn's face grows a bit darker in color but the belly remains white.
How big is a deer fawn?
A new born fawn weighs around as much as a new born baby- between 4 to 8 pounds. It is often compared to the size of a large house cat with really, really long legs! Fawns are really cute with their spindly legs, polka dots and tiny twitching tails. The mother deer or doe may nurse her fawn three to four times a day.

Whitetail does have been known to “babysit” the fawns of another doe, and in rare cases does have been known to actually “foster” orphaned fawns, even nursing them. This doesn't happen often because not every doe will accept strange fawns.

Yes. Carrots are a wonderful treat for deer. It is a top food choice for these animals. They can eat carrot tops, as well as the leaves and roots, so feel free to feed the entire carrot to your local deer herd.
