How does willowbreeze die?
Crookedjaw was tested as Mapleshade lured a Twoleg kit to capture Willowbreeze. Crookedjaw rescued her with the help of Graypool. Crookedstar was left to raise Silverkit alone as Willowbreeze and their two other kits died of Greencough.
Did mapleshade kill Willowbreeze?
When Crookedstar turns away, telling her to leave him alone, she tells him that he cannot run away from her. Willowbreeze dies shortly after delivering her kits, and two of the kits also die from the sickness that had killed Willowbreeze.
Who are Willowbreeze's kits?
Willowbreeze later had three daughters, Minnowkit, Silverkit and Willowkit, who was named after her. Willowbreeze, Willowkit, and Minnowkit all came down with Greencough shortly after, and then died. Crookedstar cared for Silverkit after this.

Crookedstar – Born Stormkit, Crookedstar's jaw was broken when he smashed his jaw against the stepping stones while crossing the river back from Sunning Rocks. Following the event, his mother Rainflower scornfully renamed him Crookedkit.

Even after this, it takes a while for Oakheart to fully forgive Crookedjaw for letting Rainflower die. When Crookedjaw becomes deputy, Shellheart tells him that Rainflower would've been proud of him, and that he was sorry she judged him so harshly.

Brightheart briefly mentored Jayfeather before he decided to train as a medicine cat and later fostered Lilyheart and Seedpaw after their mother was killed in battle. Many moons later, she retired to the elders' den with Cloudtail and Brackenfur.
