Frogfish, a type of anglerfish, have a textured exterior that aids in their camouflage. While they do not have scales, their amazing ability to camouflage themselves serves as protection from predators. Frogfish vary in color and often have unique spines or bumps that change with their surroundings.
How long does a frogfish live?
Young fish are often coloured like the poisonous sea slugs or flatworms to ensure protection against predators. Frogfish can survive up to 20 years in the wild and despite accelerated habitat destruction and pollution of the sea, wild population of frogfish is still large and stable.
