How do you get into JSU band?
The potential band student must be in good standing with their high school band director(s)/program. Your high school band director may be contacted by the JSU Band Staff. A letter of recommendation from your band director(s) is/are preferred but not required.

The 2021-2022 Prancing J-Settes captain is Amber Johnson.
How many members are in the JSU band?
Performing at venues all over the United States, THE band is currently composed of 250 members representing every discipline at the university-all coming together for the love of music.
What is AJ Sette?
J-Sette, they write, is "an underground dance style popular in the gay African-American club scene. Borne [sic] from all-female, Southern drill-teams and often performed in domestically scaled spaces, J-Sette is characterized by sharp, explosive movements choreographed in tightly executed routines."
What is JSU Band Day?
Jacksonville State University hosts each year a Band Day for band students across the United States to participate in the halftime performance with the JSU Marching Southerners. During the day students would go into rehearsals and also practice getting to their sets on the field.

Based on what we gather from Instagram, two members from the Dancing Dolls, Tamia (who was in the running for captain) and Shakayla, are no longer with the team and have joined their rivals the Purple Diamonds! Tamia has been very vocal on social media about what went down and why she was booted off the team.
