Where are yaks found?
The domestic yak (Bos grunniens) is a type of long-haired domesticated cattle found throughout the Himalayan region of the Indian subcontinent, the Tibetan Plateau, Northern Myanmar, Yunnan, Sichuan and as far north as Mongolia and Siberia. It is descended from the wild yak (Bos mutus).
Where are yaks most common?
Domestic yaks, a member of the bovine (cattle) family, are found throughout Asia. They are most prevalent in places including Mongolia, Russia, south Central Asia, and the Himalayan region, including the Tibetan Plateau. Yaks thrive in areas of high elevation with harsh weather conditions.
